Equal Opportunities

Organisations are increasingly being asked to make strong commitments to equal opportunities and to monitor its progress in all aspects of employment. Bearing this in mind, you may well be asked to complete and return an equal opportunities monitoring form with your application form.

Organisations also have to meet a number of requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, so you may also be asked to complete a monitoring form if you consider yourself to have a disability.

If you are successful in your application you might, under the provisions of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, be required to confirm your eligibility to work in the UK.

Rehabilitation of Offenders Act

At some point during your application process, you will probably be asked to declare any convictions or pending prosecutions you may have, even if they would otherwise be regarded as ‘spent’ under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If you have got a conviction or pending prosecution, you will probably need to provide details about it to your potential employer.

Failure to declare a conviction or pending prosecution may disqualify you from appointment or result in dismissal or disciplinary action if the discrepancy comes to light at a later date.
